The Why:

pounds, stones, grams, kilograms, tonnes, metric tonnes, stones ... so much for standardisation ... With all these different units to measure weight (or better mass) it's easy to get lost and confuse everything.
Sure there are a lot of online conversion utilites but what the heck... it's called competition :)

The How:

Javascript of course! For such a trivial application, it's way too easy to embed JavaScript in a webpage to use anything other.

The When:

Well, it's started ... If you need any other conversions that are not here I'll be very happy to include them. Post your request and I'll make my best to add them soon.
